Cryobiology researcher at the University of Seville
Ramón Risco is currently a Professor with the School of Engineering, a Researcher with the National Centre of Accelerators-CSIC, Seville, and the Director of the Research Group CryoBioTech, University of Seville. His team is focused on the study and optimization of cooling and rewarming rates for the cryopreservation of cells, tissues, organs, and complete organisms.
He investigates the cryopreservation of large human organs, cryopreservation of the fruit fly (Drosophila), and tumor biopsies, with excellent results to date, obtaining a very important factor in organ transplant and research progress against cancer. In 2013 he founded the “spin-off” SafePreservation, which has earned 20 ISI publications, 3 patents, 1 patent licensed, 30 conference contributions, 4 led thesis projects, 30 final projects, 10 funded projects, and 4 companies contracts.
